Re: Ebay Plastics yes or no?

I never bought any of those from Hong Kong, and I haven't heard anything about the quality of them.

However, I won some items from sellers here in the U.S.  Both transactions worked out fine.  First one was for a front fairing and the other one was for a rear cowl.

I use PayPal for payment, although I sent a money order one time, because that was what the seller wanted.

I check the seller's feedback, to make sure they have 99.7% positive feedback or higher.  That's not a typo.  99.7% or higher.

I check the seller's feedback, to make sure they have sold items of equal or higher value in the past.

I check the seller's feedback, to see if they have been around a while and sold lots of stuff, and gotten lots of positive remarks from buyers.

I check the seller's feedback, to see if his "customers" look like legitimate customers, not just shills.

Call me overly cautious, but when it comes to expensive items, well, I'm cautious.

I also checkout the neg feedback as well.  Then I checkout the person who gave the neg feedback as well, to see if that person just likes to complain(there is people who are like that).  Sometimes the neg is not justified, and you can see that.

Re: Ebay Plastics yes or no?

im sorry i didnt c this thread sooner, considering wat im going to say.  ive seen/worked with the Hong Kong fairings on an F2 and can confidently say that id never buy them.  'cheap' is good description.  the quality is nowhere near that of the OE plastics and even though theyll be shiny w/ a new paintjob, anyone will be able to tell from 20ft away that ure bike has some 2nd-rate fairings on it.  a pro-painter could do better work with cheap race-glass and it would prob fit better.

so since uve already bought them, ill offer some advice.  u may need to buy a Dremel.  the F2 set def needed some trimming to get it line up better.  the body lines still arent perfect even w/ it mounted, but its ok.  also, be careful when tightening bolts that go into the bodywork like headlight assembly stuff.  the 'nuts' that are molded into the plastic arent that reliable.  and lastly, if u have all the stock hardware ull prob need the correct size drill bit for all that stuff, metric of course.  just measure the correct hole in the OE bodywork and drill that in the new stuff.

salvage yards are only good if u r a painter. all the salvage yards ive talked too, even ones that advertise "new condition" parts, never have anything on hand that doesnt need repair.

I have bought a complete extra set of parts that are OEM off of EBAY a little at a time.  Saved a lot of money from buying off a dealer.  All parts were great with a few marks here and there.   Mine are different colors cus I was going to paint it any way.  JUST MAKE SURE YOU KNOW WHAT PARTS ARE THE SAME FROM YEAR TO YEAR.  Honda's computer don't help much
