Give us more details?  Does it happen when your turn signal is on, or you apply the brakes or  what?  how fast is it?  If it actually flickers fast then it might be a loose connection.  If it is only a couple of times a sec or slower then its a whole other story

it goes dim for a good 30 seconds or longer and its when im just driving does not matter whether i hit the brakes or not then it will get bright again then it will go dim again after a couple mins

Does it have any relation to your RPMs?  Like when you slow down it goes dim?  Or is it you're going at a constant speed on the freeway and it just comes in and out?  In the later case I would say its a bad connection somewhere.  Above 6k rpms your battery does not matter since the charging system has fully taking over.
Might be the rectifier/regulator acting up.

i was thinking it was maybe somthing with the r/r but it doesnt seem like it matters what rpms are i put my battery on a charger said it was charged so i have ruled that one out i guess the lights go dim for a good while even when i going down the interstate

Re: headlights go dim while driving the flicker in and out would this be my battery?

I would take a digital voltmeter and connect it as close to the bulb as you can and tape it to your triple t or something to check out if there're any voltage drops when it goes dim.  Then do the same thing but connect it to the battery terminals, this way you can at least rule out a wiring problem.
Now I remember that I had the same problem on my old Ninja, but it was right before I sold it so I never did any testing.  Interesting, may be someone else can shed some light on this

cant figure out why my lights are going dim think im losing voltage they seem to stay dim longer now and i did notice when they are bright when i touch the brakes they dim down again and body got a suggestion what to check

and one more thing dont know if this is related but my bike has been starting up funny i really need to choke it or give it throttle to stay running for a bit or else it just cuts off and its not cold out its summer time warm out

Re: headlights go dim while driving the flicker in and out would this be my battery?

just cuz the battery is charged doesnt mean it will sustain load as well as it should.  remove it and take it to a shop and get it load tested.  kragen or pepboys should be able to do it also, and theyll prob do it for free.

so its the battery is not maintaining its load could that make your bike idle worse

Re: headlights go dim while driving the flicker in and out would this be my battery?

Yes.  At idle a lot (if not most) of the electrical power to run the engine comes from the battery.  Thats why people who only practice on parking lots at slow speed eventually drain their battery.  The transfer to100%  power supplied by the stator comes around 5-6k RPMs.  Thats why when you turn on your choke it causes the rpms to rise hense generating more electricity.

so at an idle is it normal for you lights to dim when touching brakes i just got a new battery hope this might help things out cus it was time for a new one.  now if it starts goin dim when at higher RPMs again should i check into a stator or a R/R first?

I am having that same damn problem...When the lights dim way down and you give it full throttle does it bog down really bad?

Re: headlights go dim while driving they dim in and out

    Hey everybody.
This is my story. I was riding with my wife one night and noticed that my lights dimmed out then came back to normal. They kept doing doing till the end of our trip. First it happened a couple of months ago. I didnt pay attention to that cause the bike was fine and I didnt ride during the night. I rode it to work everyday with no problems. Then, one day, I got stuck on the highway with dead battery. I made an RR test - fine. I changed the battery. The bike was OK for a while...then I stuck again. The same stuff - dead battery. Checked RR again, made complete charging system test. - fine. So, i got frustrated. Again, rode the bike to work everyday - fine. Took it to a track - no problems. Then I stuck for the 3rd time. I already bought new rectifier from GSXR but was not sure 100% if my RR was faulty. I put the voltemeter on the bike and kept riding it everyday. Finaly after a couple of days i noticed that the measurments were jumping up to 18 volts!!! sometimes. They came back to normal when i rolled off the throttle or cut off  the engine. So after it happened like 3-4 times, i swapped the RR. Now I keep riding with voltmeter still remaining on the tank - so far so good. I am planning to take my wife for a long trip, like 80 miles. If I dont stuck for the 4th time - I hope i solved the issue.
My advice: dont wait, buy a new RR (dont buy Honda's one, GSXRs are the best ones). Put voltmeter on the bike and monitor the voltage. You will save $$$$ on towing.

Here is my post, if you are interested.
